If you’re looking for the best ramp to launch your vessel at for your next adventure, be sure to check out the Boating Vic website and app!
The ‘Ramp Finder’ function lists over 400 ramps, covering all corners of the state. Each listing includes an image of the ramp, details of the surface and current condition of the ramp, plus what infrastructure is available, including pontoons and jetties.
Also included is a five day forecast of the weather conditions, including wind speed and direction charts for you to plan your trip. Maps of the immediate area show special considerations, like 5 knot zones or marine areas and there’s a listing of any warnings affecting the zone.
To help in choosing the ideal location, each listing also details what amenities are available at the ramp, including toilets, bins and BBQ facilities if you’re keen to cook up your catch nearby!
To top it off, some ramps even have live ramp cams feeding images of both the ramp and the parking lot, so you can check the conditions in real time.
You can access the Ramp Finder via the Boating Vic website here or you can download the app by searching Boating Vic in your app store.
In addition to this, Better Boating Victoria are also expanding their all abilities access network, including installing universally designed pontoons, access davits and fishing platforms across the state.
Works have already been completed at over 15 locations around the state, including the installation of wheelchair friendly gradients on pontoons, as well as wheelchair hoists at ramps like Hastings pictured with WIRFAB Leaders Amy Day and Lee Spyrou here.
You can access the full map of All Abilities locations on the Better Boating Victoria website here. We love seeing what you and your family get up to on the water, so be sure to tag us using @wirfabnetwork on your socials!
